SOS TOGO: SOSTOGO Message to the Diaspora
Why SOS TOGO?
There is no doubt in the mind of any Togolese national member of the Diaspora and friends of Togo that the current political turmoil in our country, stemming from the quest of the Togolese for more freedom and justice after 50 years of one-family rule, has boiled over and created a climate in which a rapid intervention is required from all of us.
- We all agree that this ongoing unrest and upsurge in blind violence leaves the most vulnerable people at serious risk as it seems that things are out of control.
- Many victims of political violence are easily forgotten and left to their own fate all across our beloved country.
- Besides this, there is a rapidly growing situation of internally displaced persons(IDPs).
- These are individuals or groups who are forced to flee their homes, for reasons usually associated with political issues or natural disasters, but who remain inside the borders of their own country.
- The Districts of Tchaoudjo, Assoli, and Oti are the places within Togo where this situation is the most disheartening and alarming.
- This crisis has motivated members of the Togolese diaspora across the globe to raise money for the internally displaced in Togo and people who have been affected by the latest violence that the authorities appear to be either unwilling or unable to stop. Many women and children are living in dire conditions in open air and even in farms camps of fortune, having been chased out of their homes and out of income.
- Many fellow citizens and activists have been trying to raise money so that impoverished families can benefit from our assistance.
- That is why we decided to start a widely trusted so we can eliminate fraudsters who love to take advantage of the generous spirit of Togolese citizens and friends of Togo.
- This task of raising money is the "noblest" thing we can ever undertake on behalf of our people now and beyond this time of crisis.
- Our dream is to establish a trustworthy network of funds distribution from inside the country that is active in the field of humanitarian work and that provide assistance to displaced and injured persons.
We are already very excited by many inquiries we receive from Togolese living abroad who want to help.
This is also an opportunity to showcase the suffering of the displaced and denounce the perpetrators of this violence and their sponsors so we can contribute to bringing this crisis to an end and use our network for development projects.
- This is our time and opportunity to influence change Togo.
- Please join us with pride in our campaign!
